”Onore Gami Suuhai”(Self-God Worship)

“Onore Gami Suuhai” is a new form of prayer that involves revering and worshiping oneself, while offering gratitude to one’s ancestors, parents, all people, deities, and all things in the universe.

A New Form of “Prayer”

Prayer transcends the boundaries of religion and serves as a way to express gratitude to the “source of the universe,” the parent of all creation. By worshiping oneself as a divine or sacred being, the following realizations emerge:

         •       Recognizing One’s Own Value

One becomes aware of their inherent dignity, recognizing that they are a sacred entity and not a “sacrificial pillar” for society or organizations.

         •       Connection with Ancestral Worship

By honoring oneself, one simultaneously honors and offers respect to the countless ancestors residing within them, stretching back to ancient times.

         •       Experiencing “Light Oneness”

One deeply realizes that all things, including oneself, originate from the “source of the universe” (a mass of light) and that everything is interconnected (light oneness).

A New Form of “Talisman”

In addition to traditional talismans that enshrine deities and Buddhas, a talisman featuring one’s own name (soul) becomes the focal point, expanding the object of prayer to encompass oneself and the entire universe. This talisman can also be framed and displayed.

A traditional kamidana (household Shinto altar) or butsudan (Buddhist altar) is acceptable, but modern arrangements and decorations are also encouraged.

Cultivating Humility and a Spirit of Harmony

Recognizing oneself as a divine or sacred being is not an act of arrogance. Instead, it is the first step toward fostering humility and a spirit of harmony. By realizing that all beings originate from the source of the universe, the following changes occur:

         •       Deepened love for people, animals, plants, nature, the universe, and oneself.

         •       A heightened sense of connection with others and nature, enabling one to live in harmony.

         •       The transcendence of barriers between religions and races.

The Significance of “Onore Gami Suuhai”

         •       Improved Self-Esteem and Self-Love

Worshiping oneself inspires respect for oneself and the strength to view life positively.

         •       Awareness of Equal Divine Power

Chanting one’s own name helps one realize that they, too, possess the sacred and dignified power equal to that of deities and Buddhas.

         •       Joy of Feeling Connected

One experiences the joy of living in harmony, realizing that all beings are interconnected.

         •       Strength to Live One’s Mission

One becomes aware of their mission and gains the strength to live accordingly.

Through “Onore Gami Suuhai,” we hope to connect with the “source of the universe” and promote a way of life that cherishes oneself, one’s parents, ancestors, people around the world, deities, animals, plants, and the Earth.
